Kraatterinvartija
All Kraatteri Resort apartments are located at Nykälänniemi on the shores of Lappajärvi, and each has been named after a place or story connected to the Kraatterijärvi Geopark area.
Inspired by the story of Lakeaharju, this 4-person chalet apartment occupies the top floor of the building. The elevated position gives the apartment a sense of openness and tranquillity, and the views from the surrounding balcony feel just a little closer to the horizon. The apartment includes a sauna and is an excellent choice for a small group or family.
A View from the Crater's Edge
The chalet takes its name from the raised rim of the Lappajärvi impact crater — Lakeaharju in Vimpeli. In the tremendous meteorite impact 78 million years ago, the crater rim was thrust more than 500 metres above the crater floor. Today, rising approximately 100 metres above the surface of Lappajärvi, the rim stands watch over the crater lake from on high. From Lakeaharju and its observation tower, breathtaking views unfold — it's one of the finest spots in the area for photographing magnificent sunsets. The area also offers hiking and cross-country skiing trails, outdoor fitness stairs, a disc golf course, and the beloved community venue Lakis Areena, with its many events. In winter, you can speed down the slopes of ski resort Lakis along the crater rim.
On the Rim of the Crater
Kraatterinvartija doesn't seek attention. It offers a quiet place to simply be and rest. The apartment balcony opens out to views of the Lappajärvi landscape, whose contours speak of the area's long history. Kraatterinvartija is a place to slow down and spend time close to the lake and nature.
