The name of this two-person apartment refers to the village of Kerttuankylä in Evijärvi and the area's strong local heritage, in which the work and traditions of past generations continue to live on.
A Love of Home
The chalet's name traces its roots to Kerttua in Evijärvi and the Väinöntalo museum located there — one of Finland's most significant farmhouse museums. The museum is a living testament to the life's work and deep love of home of Väinö Tuomaala. Having collected the old farmstead objects from his family home since boyhood, Väinö began in the 1950s to gather disappearing rural artefacts, even saving entire buildings from demolition. At Väinöntalo, you can feel the founder's burning desire to preserve history for future generations. In a charming setting, 20,000 objects and 19 buildings tell the story of life in times gone by.
