The chalet takes its name from Höykkylä in Alajärvi, near which stands Pyhävuori — known as the Koli of Ostrobothnia and the region's most famous viewpoint on the meteor crater rim. Pyhävuori is steeped in fascinating folk legends and oral tradition. The ruins of hermit Jaakko Reipakka's cabin, ancient rock paintings, a sacrificial stone, and cliff caves with their tales of trolls all lend a mythical air to this popular hiking destination. The area also offers varied hiking trails through dramatic and beautiful rocky and stream-side landscapes. From the crater rim, you can hike all the way to Lakeaharju in Vimpeli.
